Just in Time Inventory – Spring 2014 is 8 Weeks Away!

It’s hard to believe that it will ever be riding weather again when there are 12 inches of snow on the ground, single digit temps and 25 mph winds biting our faces.  But trust us…Spring is coming and in the custom bike world, NOW is the time to get that new bike on order.

Custom bikes are a different and better animal. They are not pumped out like candy on a conveyor belt (think I Love Lucy), but rather, they are crafted by hand, one at a time.  Why should you consider custom?  Like a fine custom-made suit, a custom bike is designed to move with you.  The tubing is chosen, cut, and manipulated in such a way as to replicate the exact ride you are looking for.  The fit is exact, and the finish is yours to create.  Put simply, you need a custom bike because it is the best, no compromises, no “could’ve, should’ve, or would’ve”.

The road to a custom bike involves making an appointment for a fitting, getting fitted (about 2 hours), deciding on parts, wheels and finish with our guidance, and putting a 20% deposit down.  Next….the waiting….

Here are some current lead times to keep in mind:

  • Guru – 4 weeks for custom / 2 weeks for stock
  • Seven Cycles – custom: 5 weeks unpainted / 6 weeks painted
  • Independent Fabrication – 6-8 weeks for steel or Ti / 10-12 weeks for carbon
  • Parlee – 9 weeks for custom / 2-3 weeks for stock
  • Passoni – 10-12 weeks

If you are thinking about a new bike for the Spring, now is the time to get your order in.  Please call our Manhattan or Greenwich studios with any questions, or to schedule an appointment!

Signature Cycles will partner with Rapha and Strava this year to challenge the NY/CT area to ride 500km in 8 days. We will be hosting 2 Festive 500 rides from on the 28th and 29th from our CT and NYC locations.

On Saturday the the 28th, the Signature Cycles NYC studio and Rapha Cycle Club NYC will start with a Metro North train ride and explore roads most New Yorkers have yet to meet. We will travel to Signature Cycles in Greenwich, CT and roll through some of the most idyllic roads NE has to offer. Also we will get a chance to see some beautiful hand built bicycles while at the Greenwich Studio!

There are 3 places to meet:

For ride details, please RSVP to: Blake@signaturecycles.com

Please upload the route if you have a GPS device as there are many turns.

On Sunday the 29th, we will again join rides, and head north via 9W towards Nyack. The ride will be approximately 70 miles, and in Signature and Rapha fashion, we will try to keep the route interesting by adding some alternative roads less traveled.

World Bicycle Relief Fundraiser: Update & Final Tally

Good enough is never good enough for our clientele. Our initial fundraising goal was $15,000 for World Bicycle Relief. We’ve been absolutely blown away by the generosity of our community and have raised a grand total of $71,788. A very special thanks goes to an anonymous donor for matching every dollar raised and doubling all of our efforts.

535 bicycles will be delivered to Zambia and will help students, health care workers and entrepreneurs in need of transportation.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, and 532 more thank yous.

World Bicycle Relief Fundraiser Results

Signature Cycles partnered with World Bicycle Relief and set the goal to provide 100 specifically engineered, culturally appropriate bikes to a school in Zambia, Africa. Because of your generosity, our fundraising effort was the most successful in World Bicycle Relief’s history. The $34,775 we raised will provide 261 bicycles to the community in Zambia, and will change the lives of so many through the power of the bicycle.

Our events were truly a spectacular success. Thank you for opening up your hearts and wallets for such a worthy cause. We will keep our fundraising site open through the end of this week with a hope to inspire those who might have missed the events to help us break the $40,000.00 ceiling.
